(Hutch Tech JROTC Cadets with General Laura) Richardson, Commander, US SOUTHCOM)
Army JROTC is a character development program designed to help young people become better citizens.
The Hutchinson Central Technical High School JROTC program secured a thrilling victory at the 2026 Syracuse University JROTC Fitness Challenge. Competing at the JMA Wireless Dome against programs from across Central and Western New York, the Hutch Tech cadets excelled through a grueling circuit of 10 different fitness events that tested their physical limits and mental fortitude. We are incredibly proud of these cadets not just for their athletic dominance, but for representing Hutch Tech JROTC with such unity and dedication; they are truly the emerging leaders our community needs.
The Hutch Tech Army JROTC continued its tradition of excellence at the 2026 Great Lakes Drill Competition. Following a dominant season-opening performance by the LET 1 cadets, who secured first place across all categories in their debut meet, the battalion entered the Great Lakes competition at South Park High School. The armed platoon took first place overall aswell as the unarmed squad, while other teams secured a top 3 placement in every other event.
The Hutch Tech Army JROTC demonstrates its commitment to the Buffalo community through a long-standing tradition of cleaning and maintaining veteran headstones at Forest Lawn Cemetery. In a powerful display of "selfless service," dozens of cadets gather annually before Veterans Day and Memorial Day to scrub away years of moss and grime using soft brushes and water, ensuring the names of those who served remain visible and honored.
LET 1 cadets participated in their first drill competition led by our wonderful drill team captain Cadet 2LT Za'Nya Peterson. They took a first place win and dominated in every category, showing the vitality of our first years. They are now training for the upcoming Great Lakes competition on November 22nd at South Park HS.
HTJROTC Cadets showed up and showed out at the Forest Lawn veteran's day ceremony on 11/11/25. In freezing cold termperatures, they helped in placing flags in front of every veteran's grave at the Field of Valor, and stood for the ceremony honoring those who gave their life to serve our country.
